| Flowering period - Fruit is a bright red berry which persists on the plant all winter. |

| Height - Grows to 4" to 6" tall (10-15 cm). |

| How to grow - Plant in part sun. May prefer a bit of shade, but does well in full sun if the soil is not too dry. Tolerates heavy shade, but will grow and fruit best with plenty of light. |

| Features - Evergreen shrub or small tree. A small forest plant with glossy evergreen leaves. |

| Soil - Requires a well-drained, acidic soil. |

Tips - Edible fruit. The berries and tender young leaves have a pleasant, wintergreen flavor. The mature leaves can be used to make tea. Spreads slowly by rhizomes to form a colony. |
