Strawberry White Carolina

Strawberry White Carolina

  • Features: Unique in appearance and flavour, this vigorous variety is a fusion of a strawberry and pineapple. Resembling a strawberry shape, they are white with red seeds and taste like pineapples! Everbearing.
  • Maturity: 70 days.
  • Light: Plant in full sun.
  • Soil and water: Best in rich, moist, well-drained soil containing plenty of organic matter. Water frequently until plants are growing vigorously. Watering is very important in early summer and September.
  • Spacing: Space plants 45-60cm (18-24") apart.
  • Height: Grows 20cm (8") in height.
  • Garden use: Excellent for hanging baskets or patio containers and for garden beds.
  • Growing tips: Apply a light mulch to keep weeds down, conserve moisture and keep fruit clean. Fertilize beds in early summer and again in September with a balanced fertilizer. Do not fertilize if plants are flowering. Cut all runners off during the first year, leave 2-3 runners the second year.
  • Culinary use: Used in deserts, fresh or for jam.
Winter protection for all strawberry varieties is important in most northern areas. Apply a mulch of straw or other loose organic matter 5-8cm (2-3") deep over the plants after the ground freezes but before the temperature drops below 20 degrees F. In spring, pull the mulch back into the rows.
