Botanical name - Tradescantia fluminensis.
Colors - The leaves are most often purple or variegated.
Hardiness - Recommended temperature zones 10 to 12.
Frost tolerant to 32 degrees F.
How to grow - Prefers medium light. Avoid direct sunlight.
Features - Attractive variegated leaves on long trailing stems are
a myriad of green, cream, pink and silver.
Fertilizer - Add a slow release fertilizer like Osmocote into soil
prior to planting. Fertilize with a balanced fertilizer like 20-20-20
on a weekly basis if no slow release is used.
Soil - Moderately dry soil.
Size - A trailing plant grows to 24" (60 cm).
Tips - Cuttings are very east to root. Place them in water or pot them
in good quality potting soil. Cuttings can also be laid on top of moist
potting soil to start a new plant. Prune to shape if needed.
Uses - Striking in hanging baskets.
